Go Ape- Skills and techniques
Physical:
- Strength= 7/10- This is a strength of mine because i complete all of the go ape course without my arms or legs feeling tired or weak.
- Coordination=8/10- This is a strength because i was able to climb across each obstacle without miss placing my foot or my hand and falling.
- Balance=5/10- when i had to stand on free moving things I was shaking all over the place, I couldn't get my balance and found it quite difficult.
- Flexibility=6/10- I was able to stretch and reach for each obstacle without feeling and pain in my muscles.
- Muscular Endurance=8/10- I didn't tire throughout the coarse and i was able to complete each activity to the best of my ability
Psychological:
- Motivation=9/10- I was highly motivated as i kept telling myself to keep going as I am quite scared of heights. I managed to complete the full course. I also motivated other people in my group.
- Concentration=9/10- I really concentrated as i though if i lost concentration i was going to fall, so each task i did not take my eyes off what i was stepping onto, or climbing onto.
- Bravery=10/10- I wasn't going to take part in this activity as i am scared of heights, but i ended up completing the full course despite my fear.
- Problem Solving=7/10- I knew what i needed to do to get across each section safely, i knew what i had to hold on to.
Technical
- Climbing=6/10- I climbed across each obstacle without falling using all the strengths in my arms and legs to ensure i got across safely.
- Crawling=8/10- I crawled through each tunnel quickly and easily, I made sure i didn't rock the tunnel so i could crawl through with ease.
- Swinging=5/10- I only did one of the tarzan swings, but i thought i did it correctly and safely, and i swang into the cargo net and climbed up with ease. Next time i would take part in all of the tarzan swings to get a better score.
- Jumping=8/10- When jumping to grab onto objects or go down the zip wire, there was no fear in that, i was straight off making sure i was holding on to the right clips etc.
Mountain Biking- Skills and Techniques
Physical:
- Balance=5/10- I found myself wobbling everytime there was a little ditch in the track, found it difficult to stay on the bike when riding at pace going down hill.
- Musclular Endurance=3/10- My legs became tired when riding uphill as most of the track was uphill. I found myself pushing the bike most of the time as my legs felt weak. next time i will keep motivating myself and set my self at a steady pace making it easier to ride uphill.
- power=6/10- i used the power in my legs to push the pedals round helping to gain more speed when going down hill.
- coordination=9/10- i was able to look where i was going and spot any potential hazards while also changing gear, peddling and using the brakes.
Psychological:
- Concentration=8/10- i concentrated on what was in front of me, making sure that i steered out of the way of any big rocks or ditches, or if there was a corner coming up.
- Decision making=8/10- i choose to took the safest paths rather than going over the jumps and rocks, making it easier and fit to my ability of mountain biking.
- Motivation=9/10- i motivated myself to get back on the bike when feeling tired, and motivated the other in my group to do the same by encouraging them.
- Alertness=6/10- i was ready to tackle any obstacle and found a suitable way to deal with them as i had noticed them before i got to them giving me time to plan what to do
- Awareness of Surroundings=7/10- i was alert of my surroundings, as i knew when to start steering round a corner, and when to slow down and give myself and the person in front some space so we didnt crash into each other.
Technical
- Braking=8/10- I started slowing my speed down by using the brakes as i went round a corner or down hill to keep good control of the bike
- Steering=9/10- i was able to steer out of the way of objects and around corners without jerking the handle bars and falling off
- Changing gear=5/10- i never knew what gear i was in, all i knew was that i was in a low gear when i was able to pedal easily so i used this when riding uphill, then a high gear was when it felt harder to pedal so i used this when on a straight or downhill to gain speed. Next time i will keep checking what gear i am in rather than just clicking until it felt right.
- Uphill riding=3/10- this was a weakness of mine as i tired easily as it took a lot of effort from your legs to ride uphill. Next time i will keep motivated and ensure i put 100% effort in and maybe i will be able to ride further up hill without tiring as easily.
- Down hill riding=8.10- this was my favourite part of mountain biking i picked up speed and was still in control of the bike.
